How could I have forgotten Atticus??? He was one of my favorite characters in all of the classic novels I read in high school along with Sydney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities. Great list, Deb. :)
I love that you included kids books too! Fancy Nancy was a favorite of mine when I read a bunch of kids books last summer. So cute.
ok, after thinking about some of my favorite reads, here is my list (in no particular order):
Top 10 book characters
MEG ("A Wrinkle in Time")
HARRY HALLER ("Steppenwolf")
SIDDHARTHA ("Siddhartha")
DEWEY ("Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World")
NANCY DREW (series)
FRODO ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy)
MONTMORENCY (series)
HORTON ("Horton Hears a Who" and "Horton Hatches the Egg")
BERNARD MARX ("Brave New World")
GOSSAMER ("Gossamer")
An odd selection, to be sure. It was hard to choose only ten and this list is definitely not static! In fact, it might change later today ... ;)
LOVE FANCY NANCY!! She is a hero at our house! :) Also, Atticus Finch and Stargirl are BOTH fabulous characters in great classics in my opinion! Thanks for stopping by our Top 10 this week! Fun list!
I couldn't even conceive of such a list. Good work!
I have Meg on my list, too. Great list. I love the tree, too. =)
Awesome choices! I definitely agree with many, especially Atticus and the tree from The Giving Tree.
Awesome list, I've never read the Giving Tree but it's on a couple of lists today. We have someone in common too!
Feel free to check out my list :)
Great choices! The Giving Tree is one of my all time favorite books. I would reread that book so many times growing up...I always felt so bad for that tree.
I feel terrible for the tree. As a mother, I often felt like the tree.
Love Anne and the Little Prince. One can imagine these two as friends.
You don't often see a list that includes both Siddhartha and Dewey the library cat! Delightful!
I want to be Fancy Nancy and Stargirl. I wish I could be like Atticus Finch.
Atticus!
The Giving Tree - what a great choice.
Thanks for stopping by!
Oh. I loved "A Wrinkle in Time." And I now desperately want to read the pigeon book.
Great pick! I love Meg, Anne, and Stargirl too. They're great girls.

Great list! I love Anne and I remember The Little Prince very fondly. Oh! and the pigeon is a riot :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Pigeon! I heard an interview with Mo Willems today on NPR. He said that Pigeon was an accident-a doodle he kept making in the margins of other unsuccessful books he was trying to write that mocked his attempts.
Yay for the Little Prince. I loved that book as a child (and am sure I would as an adult as well).
Nice list, I have got to read A Wrinkle in Time!
I love that you chose Fancy Nancy, that is such a cute series. The kids I babysit love those books.
What a great list! Scout made my Top Ten this week. Atticus is a perfectly wonderful character too. Too Kill a Mockingbird is one of my all-time favorite books.

Stargirl often pops up on your list- I must get to reading it. Lovely list as always.
I adore Stargirl. She is brave and kind and silly and genuine.
