A 365 Project

I like to set goals. I like to plan projects. Love New Year's resolutions. I'm that kind of person.

One of my happiest years was the year (2003) that I decided to try to read 100 books. I've kept that resolution every year since and it continues to be a source of happiness.

I have, unexpectedly, become a blogger. That brings with it another set of goals. I love writing a good post and seeing people visit my blog and share their thoughts about the post. Very nice.

So, what next? I ran across a blog post this morning that has inspired me. Elsie at A Beautiful Mess proposes that we try a 365 project in 2013. She has decided to attempt to make 365 self-portraits, one-a-day. She writes, "That's the cool thing about the project: it's completely overwhelming in the big picture, yet every individual day is totally doable!"

Love Marcie Scudder's Daily Practice. She posts a photo each day and writes a few lines about it. Not sure I could keep up with that, but I'd like to give it a try.

So here's my plan: Each day I will photograph a Small Moment. I can do that (I think) at Instagram. Once a week (or once a month...let me give myself a little breathing room here...) I'll post my favorite  at Saturday Snapshot or Wordless Wednesday.

How about you? Do you want to join me? Would you like to take on a 365 project? What will your project be?

  1. Sounds like you have a good plan of attack for that project (IG, weekly fav, etc) - I attempted a 52 week project - started late & ended early (for me) - going to try it again next year.

  2. I tend to be too ambitious. Crossing my fingers with this one. That never hurts.

  4. I've been thinking of a 365 photo project for many years. I think I will to do it this year since you reminded me before January 1 :-)

I could never do self-portraits. I do think I could manage a small moment a day.

    Yay! I'm excited.

  5. I'm not a resolution kind of gal, my most successful year was when I decided to stop making resolutions, I've managed to uphold that. I also know that I couldn't do a 365 project myself, but I'm looking forward to watching your develop and evolve. Hope you've had a lovely Christmas and looking forward to a Happy New Year.

  6. Ever since I've read Elsie's post, I've been thinking if and what my own 365 day project will be. I like the idea of doing a self-portrait a day but I really like the idea of capturing small moments too. Good luck on your goal. Did you pick a word for 2013 yet? You know one to capture what you hope to accomplish? I think my word for next year is thrive. :-)

    1. I probably won't be able to keep up either. I think I'll start it, knowing this, but trying anyway.

  9. I love this idea, as you take some great pictures. I especially like the first one in this post!

I did a year-long photo challenge (for myself) a few years ago and posted all my pix on Aminus3, which is a great place to share your photos. You can see my "portfolio" here, if you like.

    Have fun with your project!

  10. I like the photo of the bird. I was just watching a hummingbird in my garden this morning. I will not take on another project. this is the year of saying no-which I guess is a resolution in itself. I was in a 3 mos trial and then got sick because of all the stress after it was over. Time for myself is my goal for next year.

    Have a good morning.

  13. Oh, what a tempting idea. I like the thought of taking the daily picture and then posting once a week or so. Glad I saw this before 1/1... I'll think on it a bit. :-)
